About the Department

Department of Zoology, of the Gramgeeta Mahavidyalaya, Chimur, is a renowned teaching centre with well equipped laboratories in tribal area. It is one of the finest departments of this Institute with 11 years of existence. It was established in 2009, form three different groups with Botany, Chemistry, Environment and Microbiology.

Research Work

The Department of Zoology has made significant contributions to biological research through its diverse interests in entomology (Odonata, Lepidoptera, Diptera and Coleoptera), taxonomy, limnology, avian diversity, and fish diversity. Research activities strengthen biodiversity documentation, ecological understanding, environmental monitoring, and conservation planning, while also providing opportunities for interdisciplinary research and the development of scientifically trained students and researchers.
