About Us
The Socio-Economic Disadvantaged Group Cell (SEDG Cell) works towards promoting equity, inclusion, and equal educational opportunities for students belonging to socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The Cell aims to identify the challenges faced by such students and facilitate appropriate academic, financial, and support services to help them continue and successfully complete their education.
Key Functions / Responsibilities
- Identify and support students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Create awareness about scholarships, government schemes, fee concessions, and welfare programmes.
- Provide guidance regarding financial assistance and educational support.
- Facilitate equal access to education, academic resources, and college facilities.
- Organize counselling, mentoring, and awareness programmes.
- Identify students requiring academic support and facilitate remedial assistance.
- Promote an inclusive, respectful, and discrimination-free campus environment.
- Provide guidance and support for addressing genuine student grievances.
- Encourage participation of disadvantaged students in curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities.
- Organize programmes for skill development, career guidance, and higher education opportunities.
- Coordinate with the college administration and relevant government/university authorities.
- Maintain records of activities and prepare reports for IQAC/NAAC documentation.
Objective
To ensure that socio-economically disadvantaged students receive equal opportunities, necessary support, and a conducive educational environment for their academic, personal, and professional development.
